It is my sad duty to report the passing of Harry Weissman in New York City on Feb. 15, 2010. Harry entered Amherst with us and graduated with the Class of 1958. When he came to Amherst, he was only 16-years-old, very bright and a joyful personality. He was a member of Kappa Theta and majored in biology.
After Amherst, Harry obtained a master’s degree from Teachers College of Columbia University. He taught high school science in New York State and then joined the Federal government, becoming an import specialist at the U.S. Treasury Department where he worked for some 20 years. After government service, he founded his own consulting firm in 1982 and continued it until his death. Harry is survived by his brother, Charles.
Harry’s fraternity brother and classmate, Bob Twombly, remembers Harry for his “jolly innocence” and his sweet and, perhaps at times, naive humor. He will be missed by many.
