Feminization of Power
Running, Winning and What It Means for American Politics
Opening remarks and introduction by Amherst College president Biddy Martin.
Kim Gandy is currently vice president and general counsel of the Feminist Majority Foundation.
"Regardless of party, elected women tend to vote differently from their male counterparts, particularly on so-called “women’s issues.” But after decades of steadily rising, the percentage of women in office seems to have stalled. How will social issues play out in the November elections, and will they work to the benefit of women candidates?"
Event is free and open to the public
