2014 First-Generation College Student Summit

"First in the Family: Building on the Dream"

March 1, 2014 - 9:30 am to 5:30 pm (already occurred)
Converse Hall, Lobby

Last spring, Class Action convened students and administrators representing seven colleges in the northeast for the inaugural First-Generation College Student Summit at Brown University. We shared the challenges that low-income, working-class and first-gen students face; discussed best practices and innovative solutions; and explored storytelling as a way to get in touch with where we come from and how it shapes our life experiences. The aim of this summit is to lift up the voices of students who are most directly affected by these challenges, to identify successful practices and to build a network of students and administrators who use a socioeconomic-class lens. This year we are expanding the summit and invite you to participate as an attendee. The summit will be hosted at Amherst College.
