AMHERST, Mass. – AmherstCollege and the PioneerValley chapter of Habitat for Humanity will together celebrate the completion of a third home in Amherst with a day of events on Saturday, May 8. The activities will start at 10 a.m. at 14 Stanley St. (near the corner of Southeast and Stanley Streets), and will feature an open house, tours of the new home, discussions of the structure’s sustainable elements and a dedication ceremony at 2 p.m., among other things. AmherstCollege donated a total of three acres of land to Habitat for Humanity for the construction of the three finished homes—24, 18 and 14 Stanley St—and one more yet-to-be-built house at10 Stanley St. Those selected to become Habitat homeowners must meet income and other guidelines. Construction of the third home began in the fall of 2009.
