Faculty Brown Bag Lunch with Anna Martini: Wednesday, March 16 12-1 in the CCE
Each semester, the Center for Community Engagement hosts a series of lunchtime conversations about the ways faculty members might use the CCE as a resource in teaching and scholarship. On Wednesday, March 16, the conversation will focus on science and engagement with Anna Martini, Associate Professor of Geology.
Each year, Anna teaches Hydrogeology, a course designed to introduce students to the study of surface and groundwater hydrology. Although her students spend a lot of time in the classroom and in the lab, they have also venture out into the community yearly to collect data from the Upper and Lower Hadley Reservoirs for the Town of Hadley. In many years, they have also focused attention on a small coastal lake on Martha’s Vineyard, where development has led to widespread environmental contamination. Anna will describe the unique challenges and opportunities associated with community-based courses and research projects.
Wednesday, March 16 from noon – 1 pm in the Center for Community Engagement, Keefe Campus Center. Please RSVP to Sarah Barr by March 15 to ensure enough tea rolls from Fresh Side!
