Supporting Learning in High-Stakes Testing Environments: Building Your Educational Toolbox Series

You are warmly invited to join the Center for Community Engagement for the next installment in our ongoing training series on building an educational toolbox. This Tuesday, October 18, from 6-7:30 pm in Chapin 203, join us for an interactive dinner workshop on supporting learning in high-stakes testing environments.

Please fill out the webform below if you plan to attend on Tuesday.

You will learn about:

  • What the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test is
  • Specific strategies you can employ to build your educational toolbox and support your learner
  • The impact of polices like No Child Left Behind, President Obama's Blueprint for Reform and the Race to the Top

This dinner and training is for any student currently working with an educational partnership or interested in the field of education in general.  We are honored to welcome Dr. Wendy Kohler as our trainer.

For over thirty years, Dr. Kohler worked in the Amherst Public Schools where she taught English and social studies at the secondary level, was a principal of the middle school, and served as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Program Development for grades pre-K through 12. Dr. Kohler currently teaches Educational Psychology at UMass-Amherst and has served as an educational consultant in the Center for Community Engagement.  Contact Dean Lee Miller for more information, kmlee@amherst.edu.
