'Senior Center Angel': Bessie Young's dedication to local elderly community spans an Amherst career

Bessie Young '11 is glowingly featured in this Daily Hampshire Gazette piece, which tells the story of her near four years of working with the Amherst Senior Center. Young began her relationship with the Center through a class in psychology, a commitment to artistic expression, and a deep interest in people. She has been awarded a $10,000 Projects for Peace grant and is currently an applicant for the Watson Fellowship.

Amherst College Community Prepares for World AIDS Day with a Week of Events, Education, and Hair Dye

Monday, November 29 marks the beginning of AIDS Awareness Week at Amherst College, a collaborative program put together by the Public Health Collaborative, Amnesty International, the Sexual Health Educators (SHEs), and Globe Med. The week’s events will encourage Amherst students to learn more about the global AIDS pandemic while raising money for Partners in Health in Rwanda.

Crafting Public Policy: A Roosevelt Institute Interterm Course

Crafting Public Policy is an introductory course that explores policy-making as both a problem-solving process and a political process.  The course is offering through the Roosevelt Institute, and will be advised by Aron Goldman, Director of Springfield Institute.
