About Engagement Advising

What is the Engagement Advising program?

Community engagement at Amherst is diverse, and it can be challenging to know where to begin. The Engagement Advising program helps students navigate the array of engagement opportunities by partnering students with Engagement Advisors—fellow students that know the ropes of community engagement. The Engagement Advising program enables students to explore their community, interests, and goals through informal peer-to-peer mentoring.

What can I expect from an Engagement Advisor?

Engagement Advisors will work with you to develop a personal pathway for engagement that's based on your interests and goals. Often, Engagement Advisors act as connectors, putting you in touch with organizations and individuals doing work similar to your interests.

The program is flexible. You can meet with an advisor at a time that works for you. Engagement Advisors can take students out for a slice of pizza or a cup of coffee.
