The Center for Community Engagement works in partnership with the Athletics Department to create a sustainable culture of engagement throughout Amherst's community of student-athletes. From adopting honorary team members to supporting weekly after-school clubs, Amherst's student-athletes are actively committed to their local community.

The partnership between the CCE and the Athletics Department is facilitated by the Athletics Liaisons— student leaders who work to connect teams and coaches with community engagement opportunities. Liaisons help teams develop community engagement ideas and promote the ongoing engagement work of the athletics community.  Most of the varsity and club sports at Amherst have one student who is selected to serve as an Athletics Team Engagement Leader (ATEL).  That student leader works to organize their team's involvement in community engagement efforts.

Looking to start your own community engagement athletics iniaitive? Connect with the Liaisons for ideas and resources. Want to learn more about what student-athletes have been doing in the community? Read recent stories profiling athletes in the community.
