Fall Foliage Walk
The Amherst Committee for A Better Chance holds an Annual Fall Foliage Event every year in October, which includes a walk and a competitive 5k run. A barbecue lunch is served on the common. This is an annual Amherst tradition and the event has always brought together hundreds of residents and school children to admire the Autumn foliage while they walk to support diversity in the local community.
The walk and run are Amherst ABC’s biggest fundraiser, providing living and school expenses for the ABC scholars. They board at the ABC House on North Prospect Street while attending Amherst Regional High School, a school rich in diversity, both racial and socioeconomic. Annual operating costs for the program are about the equivalent of a middle class family's, about $100,000.
Every tutor within the ABC program lends a hand, whether as a runner, a walker, or a volunteer. Amherst College, as a community parter of ABC, encourages all of its students to participate in the event and contribute to a great cause.

Please visit the ABC Fall Foliage Walk Site for how to register as a runner and other information about the event.
