Description: Rick Swartz '72, President of Strategic Solutions Washington, is a nationally recognized strategist on a range of major domestic and international public policy issues. In 1981, Mr. Swartz founded the National Immigration Forum, the nation's most influential advocacy organization on behalf of immigrants and refugees, composed of a broad-based coalition of national and community-based organizations. As President of the Forum until 1990, Mr. Swartz played leading roles in organizing bipartisan coalitions from constituencies across the country to secure legal status for over 4 million refugees and undocumented immigrants, to establish effective opposition to the “English Only” movement, and to ensure scores of immigrant leaders and organizations a place in important policy debates.
