Gerald R. Fink ’62 Bioscience Symposium 2019

What Can You Do with a Medical Degree?

The Gerald R. Fink ’62 Bioscience Symposium for 2019 will be held on Thursday, April 11 in the Cole Assembly Room of Converse Hall. This is the eleventh annual symposium and is sponsored by the Amherst College Class of 1962.

The following speakers will be featured:

  • Keynote Speaker Shirley Tilghmann, Amherst College Trustee, professor of molecular biology and public policy and president emerita of Princeton University.

  • George W. Carmany ’62, hospital chairman, health care investor and member of the Advisory Committee on Education of the Harvard Medical School

  • Gerald R. Fink ’62, Margaret and Herman Sokol Professor and the American Cancer Society Professor of Genetics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology; founding member and former director of the Whitehead Institute, focusing on non-profit biomedical research.

  • Dick Aronson ’69, Amherst College Assistant Dean of Students and Health Professions Advisor.

  • Jack Angiolillo ’08, Postdoctoral Informatics Fellow, Columbia University.

  • Andrew Balder ’75, Primary Care Physician, Springfield, MA.

  • Elena Boley ’92, Medical Officer, Office of New Drugs, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, US Food & Drug Administration and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

  • Natalie Braun ’19, Co-president of the Association for Women in Science at Amherst, Research Intern at Erie Family Health Centers, ChicagoCHEC and Northwestern Memorial Hospital
