Gerald R. Fink ’62 Bioscience Symposium 2020

The Gerald R. Fink ’62 Bioscience Symposium for 2020 will be held on Thursday, January 23 in the Cole Assembly Room of Converse Hall. This is the twelvth annual symposium and is sponsored by the Amherst College Class of 1962.

The following speakers will be featured:

  • Keynote Speaker Harvey Lodish, Founding Member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, and Professor of Biology and of Biological Engineering, at Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • George W. Carmany ’62, hospital chairman, health care investor and member of the Advisory Committee on Education of the Harvard Medical School

  • Gerald R. Fink ’62, Margaret and Herman Sokol Professor and the American Cancer Society Professor of Genetics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology; founding member and former director of the Whitehead Institute, focusing on non-profit biomedical research.

  • Dick Aronson ’69, Amherst College Assistant Dean of Students and Health Professions Advisor.

  • Hilary Bediako ’19 Current student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, former Amherst College Association for Women in Science board member.
  • Robert Mignone ’62 Founder and Director of Stone Bridge Psychiatric Associates, memoirist, author and ordained minister

  • Sinead Murphy ’12 Clinical Fellow in Pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital

  • Niyi Odewade ’17 current 2nd year medical student at Harvard Medical School in clinical rotations
    at Massachusetts General Hospital and publishing a bibliometric analysis in global anesthesia that
    elucidates the extent and delivery of anesthesia care in low and middle income countries.

  • Kipp Weiskopf ’07 resident physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and cancer therapy researcher.

  • Marc Pohl ’62,  former Head of Clinical Hypertension and Nephrology at the The Cleveland Clinic.
