Christopher A. Grobe

Associate Professor of English; Director of the Center for Humanistic Inquiry

As director of the CHI, I oversee the center's general operations and programming. I work with colleagues to support collaborative research projects through our research seminar program. Partnering with departments, programs, and offices across campus, I host and organize events, including the CHI’s weekly salon series. Along with the Advisory Board, I am responsible for recruiting and supporting the research fellows in residence at the center and developing themes for the residencies. I am also the college’s representative to national and international organizations of humanities centers.

As the Program Coordinator of the CHI, I collaborate with the director, CHI fellows, and faculty, staff, and students across campus to support the center’s programming. I also provide administrative support to the director to ensure the CHI's smooth functioning. I am delighted to work in a space whose mission of promoting the humanities is closely aligned with my professional experience and commitments.
