In March 2009, nine workshops (also see below) were selected for funding. The workshops will take place in the summer of 2009 and during the 2009-2010 academic year. Any Amherst faculty member who is interested in participating in one of these workshops should contact the workshop leaders, who are listed in the descriptions of the proposals, to learn more about their plans.  The Mellon grant will support up to two participants from each institution, to a maximum of $1,200 per person, though space in workshops is limited. The Mellon 23 Deans/Provosts may provide supplemental support through their own institutional funds to enable additional colleagues to participate in a given workshop.  The Dean will be pleased to provide support for up to two Amherst faculty members to participate in each workshop. Once you have decided that you would like to participate, please email Janet Tobin in the Dean of Faculty’s office at  She will inform the Dean of your interest, and he will determine if there is funding available to support your participation.
