As it did last year, the Dean of the Faculty’s Office is sponsoring an Interterm workshop on advising for interested faculty members on Tuesday, January 17, and Wednesday, January 18. Funded by a grant from the Davis Foundation, the workshop will focus primarily on the issues involved in pre-major advising, and especially on the question of how the advising process can become something more meaningful than simple course selection. It will be conducted by Professor Kate Queeney, chair of the Chemistry Department and Director of Advising at Smith College. A graduate of Williams College, with a doctorate from Harvard in physical chemistry, Kate has led a multi-year effort to study and improve the advising system at Smith. Faculty who participate in the workshop will receive a $500 honorarium.
To register for the workshop, please notify Nancy Ratner at email@example.com no later than Wednesday, January 4. Any questions about the workshop can be directed to Ben Lieber (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Nancy Ratner.
