The curriculum of Asian Languages and Civilizations is open to all non-majors and new students. The language program offers flexible placement and many non-majors pursue 3 or more years of language study within the department. Few, if any content courses have prerequisites and non-majors are welcome to explore any part of the department’s curriculum. A 100-level survey course is always a great place to begin, you may also, for example, complement courses in the English-major with some 300-level courses in Chinese or Japanese literature.
