The Japanese Language Program

Wako Tawa

Welcome to the website of the Japanese Language Program at Amherst College. My name is Wako Tawa (多和わ子) and I am the Director of the Japanese Language Program of Amherst College. At Amherst, we teach Japanese in a unique way, which is called the stage-step method (see the textbook series, The Japanese Stage-Step Course; 2009, Routledge). Our teaching philosophy and course offerings can be found on this home page, but if you have further questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at wtawa@amherst.edu. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. I would first like to introduce the teaching staff in the program.
