2023 - 2024 Important Deadlines for Thesis Writers
December 13, 2023 - First Chapter
First chapter of your thesis is due to your thesis advisor.
December 2023 & January 2024
Continue to work on your thesis during the break and be prepared to share your progress with your thesis advisor by January 19, 2024. You will be notified by the department chair before the start of the spring semester (January 29, 2024) if you are allowed to continue with your thesis.
April 12, 2024 - Thesis
Please submit your thesis electronically to blackstudies@amherst.edu.
April 22 - 30, 2024 - Thesis Defense Dates
Thesis students will defend their defense (an hour long) according to faculty and student availability.
TBD (Tentative May 7, 2024) - Final Submission
Final submission to the Registrar's Office and Department Office.
Students will be responsible to incorporate the changes or corrections in their theses suggested during their defense and to submit final, corrected copies, electronically to the Registrar's Office (the official college copy) and to the Black Studies office.
