Study Abroad for Computer Science Majors

We encourage students in Computer Science to study abroad.

You may wish to take computer science courses while abroad, but you need not.  If you want the course to count for your major, you will need to gather as much information as possible about the course -  at a minimum, a description and preferably a syllabus.  Once you have the material, send it to the chair with a note explaining your request.  (E-mail is fine.)  This should be done before you take the course.

We have a list of programs at which students might be able to take the CS course below.  It is not exhaustive.  Note that some of these would require petitioning.  If you are considering study abroad, please talk to Janna Behrens or Amanda Wright EARLY in the process.

Some of the programs that CS students have recently attended and at which they have taken CS courses include:

  • AIT Budapest (this wonderful program has become more competitive recently.  They have rolling admissions, it is a good idea to apply early.)
  • DIS Study in Scandinavia (Copenhagen)
  • King's College London
  • University of Hong Kong Department of Computer Science
  • University of Otago NZ, Department of Computer Science
  • University of Otago NZ, Department of Computer Science
  • University of Sydney

Other possibilities include:

  • IES Abroad Amsterdam at Vrije Universiteit
  • ETH Zurich, Department of Computer Science
  • University of Uppsala, Department of Information Technology
  • University of Edinburgh, Computer Science (Informatics)
  • Trinity College Dublin, School of Computer Science and Stats
  • University College London, Computer Science
  • Queen Mary University, Computer Science
  • University of Melbourne, School of Computing and Information Systems
University of Canterbury NZ, Computer Science
