Comparison of Two Ink Paintings

In an essay not to exceed four typewritten pages in length, compare and contrast the two paintings listed below.  The Japanese work by Ue Gukei, was modeled on a painting very much like the Chinese work by Liang Kai, if not this very painting.  Some of the issues you should discuss are the handling of contour line, texture stroke, and ink wash; the treatment of space; and the nature of the compositions.  What makes the Japanese work so very different from its Chinese precedent?
