Caribbean Women Claiming Their Islands

This course will explore the works of 19th- and 20th-century women writers, who through homesickness, and political commitment, passionately re-wrote the histories of their islands based on their personal stories of love and belonging. We will focus on the Spanish Caribbean and its diverse diasporic experiences in Paris, Madrid, and New York. Conducted in Spanish. Requisite: Spanish 07 or consent of the instructor. Fall semester.
