Introductory Physics I: Mechanics and Wave Motion Problem Set 1

Young & Freedman (Y&F) Chapter 1, except for sections 1.6 and 1.10.

A shorter problem set just to get the class rolling and work the kinks out of MasteringPhysics.  Do not be lulled into a false sense of security.

The textbook solves every problem using the "ISEE" (Identify – Set up – Execute – Evaluate) approach.  Although I pretty much agree with those steps (though not necessarily in that order), we don't require such a formulaic approach to problem solving.  You can follow the ISEE method if you want, but it is not required.

Due in class (10 AM) on Wednesday, Feb 4.
