In the meantime, you might want to start tracking down copies of the required texts: Silent Spring (1962, Carson), The World Without Us (2008, Weisman), and Limits to Growth: The 30 Year Update (2004, Meadows et al.). These are readily available in paperback.
Our plan for the first day is to discuss several chapters from Alan Weisman’s (2008) book The World Without Us. In particular, we would like you to read and be prepared to discuss chapters 1-3 and chapter 9 before class on Wednesday, September 9th. Feel free to skim (or read) as much of the rest of the text as you please.
