Newburyport Documentary Film Festival

Visit their website to learn more about their call for submissions for the 2023 YES AWARD - Young Emerging-Filmmakers Showcase. ‍YES Award finalists attend and participate in Festival activities, including a filmmakers roundtable in September.  A first place prize of $1000.00 is awarded to one individual helping to fuel the winner’s next creative endeavor. There is no entrance fee and the competition is open to all Film and Media Studies majors and recent graduates. Films should be no less than 3 minutes and no more than 25 minutes in duration. Roy W. Dean Grant for Short Films

Now open for entries - the grant offers $3,000 and thousands more in donated services (audio, animation, sound mixing, etc.) to help filmmakers complete their work. The grant is sponsored by the 501(c)3 non-profit From the Heart Productions which is dedicated to helping independent filmmakers get their films funded. The grant seeks short films that are unique and that make a contribution to society. Grant is open to narrative fiction shorts, live action or animated, that are 40 minutes or less in length.  The submission deadline is April 29.  www.fromtheheartproductions.com/grant-application-form/

DGA Student Film Awards

The 28th Annual DGA Student Film Awards Application Period is Now Open

The mission of The Directors Guild of America Student Film Awards for African American, Asian American, Latino and Women Directors is to honor, encourage, and bring attention to outstanding student directors in DGA selected film schools in the Eastern and Western regions. The awards bring prizes of $2,500 to the winners in each category in both regions. Awards ceremonies will be held on dates to be determined.

ENTRY DEADLINE: All submissions must be submitted by Monday, October 10, 2022 at 5:00 pm PDT.

Berkshire Student Film Festival - Submissions now being accepted for 2019 film festival

With the start of our 33rd season, the Berkshire Jewish Film Festival—for the very first itme— is accepting the work of talented young filmmakers!

We invite college students to submit their short (30 minutes or less), Jewish-themed films for consideration in our 2019 film festival.

This application may be submitted electronically or by regular mail.

  • Submissions received by December 1, 2018: Fee waived
  • Submissions received between December 2, 2018 and January 1, 2019: $35
  • Entries closed after January 1, 2019

All filmmakers will be notified of their status by April 1, 2019
