100 Level: French 101, 103

Cover the basics of French grammar and vocabulary, introduce French and Francophone literature and culture through video and short texts.

200 Level: French 205, 207, 208

Build and refine French language skills (oral comprehension, writing and speaking); introduce longer literary works in French.

• Starting with French 205
• Starting with French 207 or 208

300 Level: French 314-369

Drawing from French language skills, refine critical and analytical skills; build knowledge of French and francophone literatures and cultures, from the Medieval era to the twenty-first century.

At this point students are encouraged to declare a major and to study abroad if they have not already done so while completing the 200-level sequence.

• Starting at the 300 level
