Anne Nelson, adjunct professor at Columbia University and author of The Red Orchestra:The Story of the Berlin Underground and the Circle of Friends Who Resisted Hitler (2009; 2010), together with Stefan Roloff,  New York and Berlin based author, filmmaker, and video artist, will present a slide lecture and discussion on the shape and function of art resisting dictatorships, first the Nazi state, then East Germany. Co-sponsored by the Department of German, the Amherst College Lamont Lecture Fund and the Five College Faculty Seminar in German Studies.
