Thesis Proposal Form: 2017-18

Please use this form to submit a PDF of your thesis proposal.

Proposals are due by 4:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2017.

Your attached proposal should be between 450 and 550 words and have the following components:

  1. Tentative title of thesis.
  2. Tentative thesis advisor(s).  PLEASE NOTE: The History Department expects prospective thesis students to discuss their projects with prospective advisor(s) prior to submitting proposals.
  3. Discussion of topic and its significance: explain the topic, what is interesting about it, how it relates to larger questions, what is important about the topic.
  4. Discussion of sources: In one paragraph or less, explain the type of sources you plan to use, and their availability to you. You should demonstrate a familiarity with what is available - do not simply say "a lot of sources." You need to be specific. You do not need to provide a bibliography.

Please email Tracie Rubeck, History's Academic Department Coordinator, if you have questions or experience difficulty submitting this form.
