Award winning author and Harvard Professor Ingrid Monson discusses race and politics in jazz and rhythm and blues on Jan. 31

AMHERST, Mass – Noted jazz historian and ethnomusicologist Ingrid Monson will offer a talk titled “Close Friends: Music, Race, and Politics in Jazz and R&B” at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31 in room 3 of the Arms Music Center (Buckley Recital Hall) at Amherst College.  Professor Monson’s talk will draw from her extensive published work on jazz and civil rights and will introduce her latest research on rhythm and blues.  The talk is free and open to the public.
