AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College Department of Music presents two senior recitals on Saturday, Dec. 1 in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College. Shenglan Qiao ’13 performs on piano at 3 p.m. and Mark Santolucito ’13 performs on trumpet at 5 p.m. Both concerts are free and open to the public; seating is by general admission.
Qiao’s program includes works by Bach, Schubert, Liszt, Bartók, and a new composition by Matt Fernald ’13. Shenglan is a music and physics double-major who also enjoys singing with the Choral Society.
Santolucito’s recital features a variety of trumpet solos performed by Santolucito and Luca Antonucci ’14, in addition to the Vivaldi Double Trumpet Concerto. Santolucito and Antonucci have been playing trumpet together at Amherst College for the past two years. They regularly grace the campus with outdoor trumpet duets in the warm season, in addition to playing in the Amherst Symphony Orchestra together. Both study under Eric Berlin of UMass.
