The Amherst College Department of Music and Office of Student Activities celebrate Mother's Day by proudly presenting The King of Ragtime: A Scott Joplin Celebration. The event will be presented on the Student Activities Outdoor Stage just west of the Science Center on campus, but please note that only Amherst College students and faculty/staff approved to be on campus are allowed to attend in person.

Over 50 members of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra perform transcriptions of 18 iconic rags, in groups ranging from solo instrumentalists, string trios, quartets and quintets. The orchestra's Scott Joplin celebration is part of its Black Music Matters semester-long survey of the works of Black composers.

The event will be livestreamed on the Amherst Symphony Orchestra page at
