To celebrate Parents Day at Amherst College, the Amherst Symphony Orchestra (ASO) presents the second concert of the 2021-2022 academic year on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.
Across the Pond: Music of England opens with the romantic interlude "A Walk to the Paradise Garden" from the opera A Village Romeo & Juliet by Frederick Delius, and continues with the Andante cantabile from the Viola Concerto by York Bowen (Yosen Wang '22, soloist) and "Nimrod" from Sir Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations. It concludes with the rambunctious orchestral dance "Bamboula" by Black English composer Samuel-Coleridge Taylor. Mark Lane Swanson conducts.
