The ASO opens with Symphony #3 in F major by 19th-century Romantic master Johannes Brahms, a richly dramatic yet lyrical work in which Brahms addresses the question: does being single make you lonely or happy (or some combination of both)?

After intermission it concludes with "Symphonic Metamorphoses on a Theme by Carl Maria von Weber," by 20th century modernist Paul Hindemith. In this work, Hindemith reworks and embellishes tunes from Weber's incidental music for a play based on the legend of Turandot. What results is a dazzling display of orchestral color and pyrotechnics.

This concert is FREE, with general seating. Doors open half an hour before the concert. The most recent COVID protocols apply.
