About the Concert Choir

Welcome to the Amherst College Concert Choir page! We number approximately 35 musicians and perform a wide variety of choral works ranging from medieval madrigals to modern music. Some highlights from the 2018-2019 season include a retreat to the Antenna Cloud Farm in Gill, MA , masterclasses with the 2013 Pultizer Prize in Music winner Caroline Shaw and Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds, a word premiere by Amherst Faculty member Eric Sawyer, and a collaboration with Amherst's Mead Art Museum exhibit, Timing is Everything!

Painless vocal placements are held at the beginning of each semester, and absolutely anyone is welcome to try out. Our rehearsals are Mondays (7-9pm) and Wednesdays (8 - 10 pm) in Room 3 of the Arms Music Center. Want to sign-up? Here is the link: bit.ly/AmherstChoralVocalPlacement. No need to prepare a solo piece, just be prepared to sing scales, do some ear exercises, and sight-sing.
