The Amherst College Glee Club, founded in 1865, is the fifth-oldest collegiate choral ensemble in the United States. The ensemble meets twice weekly to develop the skill and knowledge to perform various musical styles and genres.

Drawing from the rich and varied history of composition in jazz, this course explores composing and arranging approaches in jazz. It highlights the dynamic relationship between composition and improvisation central to this music.
This course introduces students to the musical practices of South Asia and then traces these sounds and aesthetics as they echo through time and across the globe, transforming through hybrid styles, orientalist fantasies, cross-cultural collaborations, and sample-based remixing.
The Amherst College Choral Society the Amherst Symphony Orchestra perform Mozart’s Requiem. The orchestra also performs Beethoven's violin concerto, featuring soloist Zihan Xu '24.
I'm a multi-instrumentalist with a deep love of composition and performance. Music is the main avenue through which I express my artistry, and since coming to Amherst, the music department has provided me with incredible support for my creative projects. My decision to major in music was spurred by the love I have for the discipline and my desire to complete an honors thesis in composition.
