Physics Machine Shop

The Physics Machine Shop is available to students who wish to pursue projects involving custom equipment.  With milling machines, gridners, CNC machines, lathes and tons of tools, students have all the tools they need to create their own equipment.  The services of the shop are available to all students, faculty and staff, but if you really want to get involved and work the machines yourself, you should take the Machine Shop Course offered over Amherst's January Term.  This course trains students to use the machines available in the Student Machine Shop on their own.

Further Reading and Information:

  • Katherine Duke of Public Affairs recently wrote an article about the shop.  You can view it here.
