The ACME experiment aims to measure the electron electric dipole moment (eEDM), a powerful method to look for physics beyond the Standard Model. The ACME II measurement was completed in 2018 and put the most stringent bound on the eEDM, |d_e| < 1.1 * 10^-29 e cm, probing energy scales on the order of 10 TeV, comparable to the LHC. The next generation of the ACME experiment is currently being developed, with the goal of improving the statistical sensitivity of the experiment by an order of magnitude. I will give a general introduction to the ACME experiment, including updates on our recent progress and notes on my journey from being a physics major at Amherst to working as a graduate student on ACME.
