Welcome!

The Amherst Center for Russian Culture is open to the public. We welcome students, faculty, and all researchers to use the materials and the space. We are committed to making materials accessible for use while also caring for them to ensure they can be used by future generations of students and scholars.

Hours

The ACRC is open Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm. No appointment is necessary to visit the Center. However, please see Request Materials below if you would like to access rare books, periodicals, or archival materials during your visit.

The ACRC is closed on College holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s. Any other closures will be posted on the website.

Request Materials

When planning your visit, please visit Explore the Collections to help locate materials. Archival materials can be found by consulting the finding aids. Books and periodicals can be found in the Frost Library Catalog

Prior to your visit, please complete the Materials Request form so we can have materials available for you. Providing information about the purpose of your visit will also help us to better support your research. Upon arrival, please sign in at the Center office to access requested materials. You will be asked to fill out an Application for Use of Materials form and a Request for Duplication form if you would like to take photographs.

We are able to scan a limited quantity of materials depending on staff availability. If you would like to request scans, please email acrc@amherst.edu and attach a completed Request for Duplication form. We will respond to your request as soon as possible. Please note that reproductions are for personal research use only. Requests to reproduce or publish materials should be addressed to the relevant copyright holders.

ACRC Policies

In order to preserve the materials for future use, please leave all bags, coats, food, drinks, and pens in the cubbies at the entrance to the Center. You are welcome to step out into the entranceway to eat or drink.

All materials are non-circulating and must be used in the Center. Archival materials and rare books must be used in the Center office.

You are welcome to take photographs of materials for your own research purposes. You may use your own smartphone, tablet, or small digital camera without flash. Prior to taking photos, please read and complete the Request for Duplication form.
