For our second conference, Eisenstein International Network members will present new research on Eisenstein’s Method and related topics. Sessions will be held in 4 successive weeks in March. They will be available live via Zoom and will be recorded for later viewing.
Sessions will be held on Fridays and Saturdays, at 12.00 noon NY time (EST); 4pm Rio de Janeiro, 6pm London, 7pm Berlin, 10pm Moscow; 6am Melbourne (+ 1 day). The keynote by Maria Stavrinaki on 3/5/21 will be a 2:00 p.m. EST (8:00 Paris). Please register for each individual session. The Amherst Center for Russian Culture was founded in 1991 by Amherst College alumnus Thomas P. Whitney, class of 1937, a collector of Russian manuscripts, rare books, journals, newspapers and art for over 30 years.
History and Overview
The centerpiece of the Center is Whitney’s collection of émigré Russian materials, which has generally been considered the West’s largest private holding of rare Russian books, manuscripts, newspapers and periodicals.

The archives are home to documents by such notables as Vasily Kandinsky, Boris Pilnyak, Ivan Bunin, Ilya Ehrenburg, Vladimir Nabokov, Aleksei Remizov, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Anna Akhmatova, Nikolai Gumilev and Marina Tsvetaeva.

The Amherst Center for Russian Culture is located on the second floor of Webster Hall, in the center of the Amherst College campus and on the South side of the main quadrangle.
Hours and Location
The Mead Art Museum holds more than 750 works of Russian art, including oil paintings, sculptures, drawings, collages, and prints, the majority of which date between 1900 and 1950.
