One of Russia's most prominent independent journalists explores a ground-breaking attempt to document everyday Russian life in full color a century ago, by visiting the places photographed just a few years before the revolutionary upheaval by the legendary artist Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky and contemplating the difference that a hundred years can make in the history of a nation.

Four years in the life of a young boy suffering from severe autism, whose existence is upended after his mother is diagnosed with fatal cancer and he is sent to a residential neuropsychiactric institution, a place where people with his sort of diagnosis do not live long.

CHILDREN 404 («Дети – 404», 2014), dir. Askold Kurov, Pavel Loparev
An intimate look at LGBTQ youth in Russia struggling in the wake of recent legislation against "homosexual propaganda." Defenseless against insults and intimidation, forty-five Russian teens and tweens share their stories through anonymous interviews and video diaries.  The film explores the attempts by human-rights advocacy activists to bring public attention and empathy to the victims of this government-endorsed hate, and tells the story of one eighteen-year old who decides he must leave his homeland altogether if he hopes to find a boyfriend and lead a normal life.
