The Amherst College Department of Theater and Dance presents New Works in Performance, an evening of original works created by Amherst and Five College students.
Performance Project will feature new works created in the "Performance Studio" course in collaboration with "Lighting Design" and "Costume Design," created by Cara Board of Mount Holyoke College and Marina Dumont, Matthew Holliday '19 and MacKenzie Kugel '19 of Amherst College.
The Lens is a world premiere, created by the newly founded Amherst College Dance Ensemble and Visiting Artist Danté Brown, that depicts the aftermath of revolting community. In this collaborative process, we question how identity through performance can become an applicable commodity. Through investigating popular culture and the notion of disidentification, we build a community on stage where individuals are constantly shifting, trying to locate one’s power amidst this idealistic society.
