Amherst-Doshisha University Fall Exchange Program

Doshisha University will guarantee scholarships for three Amherst students to spend the fall semester at Doshisha. The partnership with Doshisha includes a faculty exchange program and Doshisha sends up to two recent graduates to enroll at Amherst as juniors to complete a second bachelor's degree in two years.

The scholarship grants the following:

  • Tuition and housing for the fall semester (includes the accommodation entrance fee)
  • 80,000 yen per month (for up to six months)

Students are responsible for airfare, meals, additional personal expenses. Students will be expected to arrive to Kyoto in the first week of September and the semester will run through January 17, 2020. The typical fall calendar at Doshisha runs through April; however, alternative assessments will be given to Amherst students in order for them to return in time for the start of Amherst's spring semester. Students will have one week before the spring semester at Amherst begins.

There are two program tracks; students choose one to attend:

Complete applications will be due to the Global Education Office early in the spring semester February 15, 2019 to Keefe Campus Center 102B. Selected applicants will be interviewed by faculty in Asian Languages and Civilizations.
