Amherst-Yonsei University Exchange Program

Yonsei University, South Korea's premier private university, has a liberal arts college, Underwood International College, that has a bilateral exchange agreement with Amherst. All students with interest in South Korea are encouraged to apply! No prior experience in Asia is required. Students interested in studying at Yonsei and living in this trend-setting city are great candidates for the exchange.

Students in the exchange have preferred access to courses at UIC, and students may also take courses at other colleges and academic departments at Yonsei. (Please note preferred course access is only for UIC courses; general Yonsei courses are available on the university's bidding system.) Students are expected to take Korean language as one of their courses.

Students live in one of two international dorms, Sk Global House or International House, and can participate fully in student organizations. Both dorms are on the main Sinchon campus in the heart of Seoul.

The fall semester begins in mid-August and ends in December, just before the Christmas holiday. The spring semester begins in late February (or early March) and ends in late June. For regular Yonsei students, the academic year begins in the spring (semester 1) and ends at the conclusion of the fall semester in December (semester 2).

We invite students to submit an application if it is your first-choice program; we will assume that, if admitted, an offer will be accepted. To apply, please follow the instructions below. All materials should be submitted to the Director of the Global Education Office, AC 2295 by the deadline. The faculty Committee on Global Education will review and nominate students for the exchange.
