Committee members welcomed Tadeusz Pudlik '09 to his first meeting.

Topics

1.Questions about the web and the transition to the spring term

Committee members recommended that the default courses listed under the "course" menu switch from fall courses to spring courses on the first day of interterm.

Committee also suggested that course rosters be made live to faculty and students enrolled in the course on the same day.

The committee also recommended that students enrolled in fall courses lose their access to the restricted materials of the class at or near the end of February.

2. Questions about TAs (should we try and represent them in data, what kind of access should we provide and how allow faculty to control it?)

The committee recommended that ATS create a web survey for faculty and academic department coordinators to use to identify teaching assistants and the course with which they will be affiliated.

The Committee also recommended that TAs have the ability to enter grades though not to see the student's grades.

3. Update regarding Media Viewer

Work is progressing. A list of the ideal features of such a viewer would have has been developed. Library and ATS staff are assessing off-the-shelf applications to see the extent to which they meet these needs.

4. Update Regarding Online Course Registration

After one meeting of the ad hoc group helping to guide IT on this project, it seems that Datatel's online course registration module offers the basic capabilities desired. IT will do a little work on the Datatel module user interface and then demo it to a group of interested faculty and students.

5. Procedures for giving collaborators access to electronic resources

IT recognizes that it needs to come up with a method for doing this.

6 Reaccreditation projections

The committee agreed to look at the projections in the current draft and make recommendations for changes and additions.
