The host institution is the Universidad de la Rioja, with particular strength in these subjects:  Spanish philology, literature, humanities, and natural sciences.  Spanish majors may receive credit in the major, see the department website for more information.

Students who wish to conduct research abroad may submit a proposal to Middlebury to receive a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Aided students interested in Mellon funded research during the semester should consult with the financial aid office.
