The host institution, ranked the top public university in Mexico, is the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán in Mérida, the lively capital of the Yucatán peninsula.  Spanish majors must consult with the department for credit in the major.

Only the advanced language program is approved; the beginning language program must be petitioned.

Language pre-requisites:

4 semesters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent required.
