CIEE Shanghai: Accelerated Chinese Studies and China in the Global Context at East China Normal UniversityShanghai, China
Students may enroll in the Accelerated Chinese Studies program or the China in the Global Context program. Students will not receive credit for the required "Chinese Language and Culture Practicum" and must take an additional course in order to receive a full semester's worth of Amherst credit. Students will only receive credit for programs and courses that fall within the liberal arts; no credit will be given for business programs or courses and internships. Students are strongly encouraged to live with host families or with Chinese roommates. Hosted by East China Normal University.

Financial aid students studying abroad for the fall, spring, or full year in China or a Chinese-speaking country should consider applying for a Chia Fellowship. Chia Fellows are funded to spend the summer in a Chinese-speaking country on an approved internship, research, or other study abroad program.Language pre-requisites:
For Advanced Chinese Studies program, students must have at least 4 semesters of college-level Chinese. For China in the Global Context, no language is required.
