The program requires you take Ulpan, an intensive Hebrew course prior to the start of the term.  Amherst does not award credit for summer or orientation courses.  Therefore, you must take a full course load during the semester.  Amherst expects students to take a language course, either Arabic or Hebrew, during the semester.
