Syracuse University in Istanbul (petition)

Students take a core course in Political Science called "Contemporary Issues in Turkey" as well as the pre-semester traveling seminar called "Istanbul: Crossroad of Civilizations, Past and Present." The remaining courses are taken at the host university, Bahçesehir University, located directly on the Bosphorous River.

Trinity-in-Trinidad (petition)

Students interested in petitioning this program must have a demonstrated interest in Caribbean Studies and/or festival arts.  Please see the Director of International Experience if you are interested in petitioning this program.

The host institution is the University of the West Indies.  Students cannot participate in the internship course for credit since Amherst does not award credit for internships.  Rather, students much do an independent study project.

The spring semester is preferred, as that is when Carnival is and the program focuses on festival arts.

CIEE Amsterdam: Social Sciences

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Only the Social Sciences program is approved.  Students are expected to take a Dutch language which will be taught at the University of Amsterdam’s Dutch language department (INTT).  Students can enroll in Dutch courses at any level and the courses run for 8 weeks (45 contact hours) for which CIEE will recommend 3 U.S. credits per course.

You must receive credit from Spelman College, the school of record for CIEE programs.
