After Amherst

Career Preparation

At Amherst, a lot of people are ready to guide you on your journey toward the future—advisors, professors and friends, plus the friendly experts at Amherst's Career Center, who offer a blend of sophisticated technology and personal service to help you prepare for internships, jobs and life after graduation. Each year, the Career Center offers more than 200 programs, including career panels, résumé workshops, premed and prelaw advising and on-campus recruiting.

Graduate and Professional School

Amherst offers everything necessary to effectively prepare for study beyond the undergraduate degree: a rigorous curriculum, an emphasis on writing, the opportunity to do graduate-level thesis work and strong recommendations written by professors who know you well. Amherst graduates are accepted into top graduate and professional programs worldwide and have been awarded some of the nation's most prestigious fellowships, including Fulbright, Goldwater, Rhodes and Watson.

Alumni

Amherst's 20,000 active alumni are leaders, decision-makers and visionaries all over the country and the world. Many of them maintain unusually strong ties to Amherst, returning in the fall for Homecoming and throughout the year to share their career insights with current students. Through the Amherst Career Network, they also provide advice, offer internship opportunities and job leads, invite students to visit their workplaces, and sponsor students in paid internships.
